Taught by Beth Giles | on Tuesdays 9:30 am-10:45 am | $18 to drop in | $90 for class series
Just like the seasons of the earth, our bodies go through seasons and cycles—action and rest, growth and letting go, easy times and challenging times. This six week session of Nia will focus on seven cycles that make up a Nia class and how those cycles can be found in our natural world and within us. Our minds and bodies will move from stillness to higher intensity and back to stillness, ending with a brief meditation at the end of class. We'll also play with sounding to integrate our voices, using vowel sounds and words to connect the body and the breath.
We dance in bare feet (shoes are optional) to soulful music using the 52 moves of Nia and movements drawn from dance arts, martial arts and healing arts. We dance Nia to build body awareness and compassion, to gain strength and flexibility, express ourselves, and have fun. No prior experience is necessary. For all levels of fitness.

I discovered Nia in 2004 and it has transformed my body and my life. I am a Nia Black Belt Instructor, who has been teaching full-time since 2014. My passion and purpose in life is to share the joy of movement and the Nia practice with people of all ages, shapes, and sizes. I teach eight Nia classes a week, plus I offer workshops, dance parties, and one-on-one movement sessions in the Twin Cities.
I thrive on the fun and freedom of dancing Nia and empower my students to move in their bodies’ way to feel better, improve their stamina, strength, ease, and personal outlook. Dancing Nia is energy medicine for a healthy, joyful, and loving life. For more information check out my website.
