SomaYoga Therapy and Somatics Intensive

  • Tula Yoga & Wellness 99 Snelling Avenue North Saint Paul, MN, 55104 United States (map)

Learn the SomaYoga methodology to release the stress response in the body, retrain the neuromuscular system, regulate the nervous system, and integrate stability and strength. East (yoga practices & functional movement) and West (Somatics & neuroscience) are beautifully integrated through this trauma-conscious practice.

SomaYoga Therapy is the blend of gentle therapeutic yoga with neuromuscular retraining with Somatics. In this intensive, we’ll learn how our bodies develop unconscious movement & tension patterns, and how to identify & retrain them. Explore the neurophysiology behind SomaYoga, learn to use Interoception in our own bodies, and how to teach others in classes and private sessions. Learn skills to blend therapeutic asana and functional movement by building from the core out to the limbs, along with layering Yogic maps such as the Koshas & 8 Limbs of Yoga.

Learn the hows and whys of SomaYoga Therapy and Somatics:

  • Learn how SomaYoga Therapy and Somatics can help us work toward smarter muscles, and why two very conscious cycles with curiosity are better than 10 fast repetitions.

  • Explore how Somatics involves the brain, muscles, and the nervous system.

  • Learn how to incorporate it into yoga practice to help students improve posture and get out of chronic pain.

Great for:

  • Yoga and movement instructors wanting to deepen their teaching in therapeutic yoga and gain CEUs.

  • Wonderful for the curious yoga student who wants to deepen their body awareness and physical practice.

  • Holistic Health Providers such as PTs, OTs, Chiropractors & Massage Therapists to add a Somatic dimension to their professional skill set.

Required as a bridge into Yoga North's Yoga Therapy program if you have taken 500 hr teacher training from another school.
